We are up to our elbows in sweet Georgia peaches! A couple of my baliffs went to Peach County over the weekend to bring peaches back to the people of Camden County. They delivered our half bushel on Saturday afternoon. I wish you could have smelled those peaches. It took me back to being little and swimming in Aunt Lyda's pool. She had a wonderful peach tree in her yard. When we got hungry or thirsty from a good swim, we'd pick a peach for a snack. There's really nothing better on a summer afternoon than a fresh, sweet, juicy peach.
We gave away about half of our half bushel and have been busy peeling, slicing, freezing, and making cobblers and smoothies out of the other half. I finally finished slicing and freezing the last of the bunch on Monday night. Now I'm dreaming of pound cake with fresh peaches this fall! That is if the girls and I don't finish them all off in smoothie form before then!
Mmmm, peach cobbler
Two Georgia peaches
Not that this relates in any way to peaches, but we went to the Camden Summer Theatre production of Aladdin, Jr. at the high school on Saturday night. The production was in the round and the audience sat on stage. The girls were able to sit right at the front, in the middle of the action and had a great time. We've been going to these summer productions since we moved here and Mary Grace and Stephen especially enjoy them. Elsie just kept "whispering", "When's it gonna be over?"
And finally, if you are at our house this summer and look out your window to see this, don't worry, it's just Blake up to more Blake antics.
