Christmas Card Preview

We went up to Jekyll Island again this year (our third time) to meet Santa on the beach for Christmas photos.  Our appointment was at 5, so the lighting was perfect.  The beach is so peaceful at this time of year.  It's really my favorite time at the beach.  No summer crowds and there's just something special and beautiful about the late fall sunlight.  We had Santa all to ourselves.  Here are some photos:

I tried to get a photo of the beautiful sunset but it didn't work out like I would have liked.  We've been having glorious sunsets lately.  Bright pink skies that the girls think God painted just for them!

Go Big Blue!

We live in the land of big-time high school football. 5A, state champs, nationally-ranked, traveling to other parts of the country to play, games on ESPN type of high school football.  With no big colleges around, it's kind of the big thing here in the Fall. Well, all year around, actually.  Here's our team taking the field:

Pretty impressive, huh?

And we have just the one high school in our town so everyone is a Wildcat.  Each year, the cheerleaders host a Fall cheer camp for the little girls as a fundraiser.  Mary Grace particpated this year.  As part of the camp, the kids get to cheer on the field at one of the first home games of the season.  Here is our little cheerleader on the field:

(Wish I had a zoon lens!)

The girls had a wonderful time at the game.  Elsie wore her Camden cheerleading uniform.  We saw lots of friends and even were able to sit with a group of them.  So we had our own little cheerleading section (and very nice seats thanks to some season-ticket-holder friends):

We look forward to going to these games for many years to come.  It really is a fun Friday night activity!

Colors

We travelled up to Jefferson last weekend to see Uncle Robby graduate from the police academy.  He's now a full-fledged Deputy Sheriff.  We made it up on Friday just in time to see him graduate.  We are all very proud!  We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with family, enjoying the cooler weather and changing leaves.  We even saw a waterfall!

This girl loves her Uncle Robby!

See what I mean?!

First Baptist Jefferson has purchased a brick-maker to use in developing countries on mission trips.  We walked over to the church on Saturday morning and watched as they made the first batch of bricks.

Then we drove up into the mountains to see some changing leaves.

And some goats on the roof!

The kids got their feet wet in the cool springs.

And we found a waterfall.  That was Mary Grace's request!

Loves that Uncle Robby!

We stopped at a creamery on the way back into town.

We enjoyed fresh ice cream and milk.

Then we went back to Talmo and had yummy vegetable soup and s'mores around the fire pit.

Happy Halloween from Madeline and Snow White!

Madeline and Snow White, along with their side-kicks, Charlie and Mini Baby, had a great time trick-or-treating on Monday night.  We started out on our own street then met up with the Moodys and went along Nancy Drive and Borrell before heading downtown to see Ms. Julie and some other friends.  I had only planned to be out for an hour or so since it was a school night but we ended up finally getting home around 8:30.  Here are some photos of our evening.

Summer In Review

We're back!  It's been a long summer.  We've had some good times and some difficult times but we're hanging in there and remembering all that we have to be thankful for: each other, our friends and family, our health, our two dogs, and our sweet little town.  We've enjoyed all of them this summer.  Here's the summer in review:

Mary Grace finished Kindergarten:

Elsie finished her Purple and Red Apple classes:

Aunt Chatham graduated from her Masters' program at N.C. State:

The girls had their ballet/tap/jazz recital.  A total of 6 dances between the two of them!  Sweet Bridget's in the middle.

We were with Maw Maw for her first view of the Atlantic Ocean!

We had a great 4th of July weekend with Robby, Candi, and the boys:

Stephen turned 35!

We waited for sea turtles to nest.

And enjoyed a week at the beach with our Fralix cousins:.

Mary Grace started First Grade!

Elsie is a Green Apple!:
So, there's the summer.  Now, we're onto Fall and all of the fun that brings.  I'm working on a Halloween costume.  I'll give you a hint: it's for the "smallest one", this little schoolgirl pictured above.  Mary Grace is going to choose from our extensive selection of Disney and Barbie princess costumes and/or cheerleading uniforms.  I'll be back soon with our Fall activities so far: cheering on the CCHS Wildcats, soccer games, and lots of fun at school.

We love you all and miss you.  You know, Fall is the PERFECT time to visit us!
