Facebook

I am disabling my FB account this afternoon.  I've been considering doing this for awhile.  I find myself mindlessly clicking through pages of people who I knew 10 years ago and who I have no reason to have contact with anymore.  Do I really need to know that someone I haven't spoken with since high school is "home from work now" or "had a ham sandwich for lunch"?  It just seems like a lot of useless information.  And I get wrapped up in it so I feel as though I need to post similar useless information; too much information to share with 170 people!
Plus, I am hearing more and more about how FB is sharing biographical information of its users with other applications.  It's all a little too Big Brother for me.
I am going to depend on this blog to update those of you who I really care to know what we are doing.  And there's e-mail and other friend's blogs to keep me up to date with my friends.  Surprisingly enough, I have many friends who are not on FB!  They don't seem to miss it.  So, I'm stepping back into the dark ages, I guess.  And I will no longer be informed of when a "friend" from years back is "sharing flowers from Farmville" or "had a great dinner last night".  I think I'll survive.
