Kindergarten!

It's official.  I have left my child in the hands of the State of Georgia to "educate".  I am trying to have a good attitude about this but it is difficult.  We have a beautiful new school building with everything money can buy, Mary Grace gets to walk to and from school (how many kids can say that these days?), we got the teacher we requested, who also happens to be Mrs. Lentz's (Green Apple teacher) sister, and Mary Grace has a few friends from Happy Apple in her class.  BUT, there are 23 kids in her class!!!!! 23!!!!!!!  How is one teacher supposed to teach 23 5-year-olds?  I have other concerns as well but I won't write those here for fear of sounding like a complete jerk.  I'm just sad that we don't have a reasonable, simple alternative.  The closest accredited private school is an hour away in Brunswick.  And transfering her to any other school, including another public school, would create a child care problem for us.
I had a wonderful experience in elementary school: a small class, a tight-knit group of friends, and a solid, faith-based education.  I just want the same thing for my little girls.
We all went together this morning to drop her off.  We parked and walked her into her classroom.  She greeted her teacher then went straight to the reading corner, picked up a book, and sat on the bean bag to read.  She told me, "Momma, this is why I wanted to get this teacher."  (Mrs. Lang has a very special reading corner with a tree and two bean bags.)
Here are some photos from this morning and Open House:

We met Lainee on the way in.
